Game Drawing

I disliked this project, therefore I didn't really care about the final outcome of this piece. I don't feel like I was very succesful on this piece because I wasn't interested in what I was doing. If I did this project again, I would most likely focus harder on making the dimensions more similar to my reference. The water color painting was the hardest part of this project.

3D Drawing

While in the computer lab, we used Photoshop to transform the scale as well as the perspective of the image so that looking at the image from different angles shows a different shape of the picture. Using this picture, we used the grid method to transfer the picture from the printout sheet, to our sketchbooks. The most important aspects of this project were first, creating an appropriate perspective and scale for your initial picture. Also, it is important to be exact when transferring the image to your sketchbook.

Spray Painting with a Stencil

In order to create the stencil for this project, we had to use Photoshop to manipulate the threshold on a picture we selected off Google. From that, we expanded the picture and used it as a stencil. to create the background for this work, I just sued random pieces of newspaper, there was no rhyme or reason behind which pieces I chose. Using black and white creates a clear contrast in the spray painting, which is why i chose to use those basic colors. Cutting with the xacto knife was a challenge because it was difficult to cut little pieces in the paper. It is important to remember however, to never cut towards yourself or your fingers.  Detail is important to have present in a work of art such as this, however, adding a lot of detail makes it nearly impossible to cut with an xacto knife. Another important aspect to consider is using the correct colors to define a positive contrast in the spray painting.

Print Making

Adding texture to my print was done by using grooves to create the the white part of the penguin. Rather than removing the whole top layer, I used individual lines for the purpose of adding texture. There is a clear positive vs. negative theme in the art in the form of the black and white contrast in the print. The project didn't turn out as well as hoped, mostly because of either a lack of paint on the press, or too much paint on the press. Depth was difficult to create in this print because we only made one layer of color in the linoleum was created a struggle to show true depth. I have no experience working with prints, therefore knowing how deep and far apart to make each cut was a difficult process for me.

Chalk Art

Working on a team in art makes the project more enjoyable because the entire project doesn't lay in your hands. Collaboration is important when working on a team because if each member contributes their strengths to the better of the team, the project will end up looking much better in the end. This project was successful, although our team ran out of green which made finishing the tube a difficult process. Making interactive art is cool because it allows many people to incorporate themselves with your projects.

Print Sketch

Texture is important to include while doing sketches such as these because it adds dimension to the picture and creates a better overall appearance of your drawing. Having multiple images of both the animals and the landscapes helps give the drawer more inspiration or ideas for how they want their final product to turn out. Looking at all of my sketches makes it easy to tell which sketch will turn out the best on print because the most simplistic sketch will turn out looking the best in most cases.

Value Scale Drawing

I started to develop my picture by putting the image up against a window and tracing the evident shapes through the paper. Once that was done, i finished by shading and drawing the facial features. This project was extremely difficult, therefore making all the features and shading look neat and correct wasn't easy. One obstacle I faced when trying to complete this project occurred while trying to neatly transfer the picture from the tracing paper into my sketchbook. After some help from Mr. Sands, I was able to complete the project.

Turtle Drawing

This picture show's my boy Nick and I, trying to draw turtles that were swimming around in the tank infront of us. This project was in my opinion, the most difficult project we've done because of how active the turtles were in the tank. If the object you're drawing isn't still, it makes drawing the details very difficult.

Cartoon Bone Toad

Today in class we drew cartoon skeletons of a animated figure that we chose. The most difficult part of this project was drawing bones that don't exist on the human body such as Toad's mushroom head and his feet.
